If you have a teenager at home who is learning to drive or who is a new driver, please check into B.R.A.K.E.S. This isn’t a typical driver’s education program, and won’t satisfy the requirement for a teen license. It’s are a step beyond. It teach skills like accident avoidance, how to handle skids, how to avoid distractions, what to do if a wheel goes off the side of the road (one of the most common causes for accidents) how to effectively engage antilock brakes, and many skills that go way beyond what’s learned in typical driver’s ed. Participant need a valid license or permit and a certain number of hours of driving experience. The programs fill up quickly, so make sure to sign up as soon as registration is open. Each is a half-day program. Although the programs are free you may need to send a check to hold your spot. That check will be returned upon completion of the class, or you can choose to donate it. My son took this program and I highly recommend it. This program was started by Top Fuel drag racer Doug Herbert after he lost two sons in a car crash.
