Join TreesCharlotte to learn more about urban forestry at a free event sponsored by Bartlett Tree Experts on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016. There’s a stakeholder program during the day, but that’s closed. The public is invited to a cocktail hour from 5 pm. to 6 p.m., and an evening program from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. that features talks from two keynote speakers, David J. Nowak, PhD, US Forest Service, and Larry Selzer, The Conservation Fund. It takes place at UNC Charlotte Center City, 320 E. 9th Street. Register here.
• 5 to 6 p.m. — Stakeholders and the general public can socialize and network over cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres.
• 6 to 8:30 p.m. — Stakeholders and the general public will hear from keynote speakers David J. Nowak and Larry Selzer about the urban forest’s benefits and innovations in community engagement during the educational evening program. Nowak works with the U.S. Forest Service, an agency administering the nation’s 154 national forests and 20 national grasslands. Selzer is the president of The Conservation Fund, a nonprofit focused on conservation to achieve environmental and economic outcomes. It is limited to 300 participants.
