Shelby, NC, a small town in Cleveland County, 44 miles west of Charlotte, is hosting the American Legion World Series from August 15 to 20, 2024. American Legion Baseball is amateur baseball played by 13 to 19-year-olds in fifty states of the United States, plus Canada.
Shelby has been the permanent home of the American Legion World Series since 2011.
Shelby is hosting the American Legion World Series Festival on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This is a free festival that features live music on two stages, a kids’ zone, and other entertainment.
The festival takes place on Marion Street between Washington and Lafayette Streets in Shelby.
New this year will be a classic car show on Lafayette Street from the Shelby Cafe to Graham Street and Pleasant City Wood-Fired Grille
Cleveland Community College will set up YetiVille with all its sports teams and departments.
The kids’ zone will be larger than in previous festivals with more attractions and games. Living statue baseball characters and multiple performances of the “Who’s on First” comedy skit will enhance the baseball theme, along with a batting cage and pitching machine.
The new ALWS mascot, AL, will sign autographs and mingle.
Members of the U.S. Army’s parachute team, the Golden Knights, will interact with the crowd.
