Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is making some of the incredible trails in the county accessible to more people, with the introduction of All-Terrain Wheelchairs (ATWs.)
This (2024) is the pilot year for the program. They are available to rent for free at several recreation and nature centers.

People who need them in order to access the trails can reserve and rent them free of charge. Reservations are being accepted now, and they will be available for use beginning Monday, November 18, 2024.
Reservations can be made by phone or in person at five Park and Recreation facilities:
