Arts in the Park, on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Tuckaseegee Park in Mt. Holly, will bring together literary arts and a movie night. The event is brought to you by Mount Holly Parks & Recreation and the Gaston Arts Council.

Arrive at 5pm to receive exclusive giveaways while supplies last.
Arden McLaughlin of Arden’s Book Club, is the event’s emcee. Hear poetry from poet & wood sculptor Bob Sokol and poet, writer and retired U.S. Marine Bud Strope . Special guests Debra Funderburk, Chief Creative Officer, Charlotte Writing Academy, Ciera Mack, Founder, CEO, eSTEAM Club and Mindy Kuhn, President & Owner, Warren Publishing, Inc. will provide updates on their company’s work in the community and efforts to increase literacy.
Storytelling time will feature teaching artist, lecturer & performer Dawn Anthony and storyteller and Program Chair, the Piedmont Chapter of Links, Inc. Dot Guthrie. The Gaston County Museum of Art & History and the Mount Holly Historical Society have also been invited to participate in story time.
Self published authors Marion McKenney and Cynthia Stitt will share insight on their writing influences.
Eight (8) Arts & Humanities Explorers Career and Education Program student participants will present their “Our View of the Arts Landscape” production which will showcase their artistic talents.
Warren Publishing Inc. authors Jessica McEachern, Susan Amond Todd, Mable Hemphill and Myndie McFarland are going to introduce their new releases.
Preceding the presentation of the movie feature “Nature Matters”, there will be an interactive discussion led by Barbara Ann Temple, Ph.D., Vice President, Education and Executive Producer, Director, & Writer Nature Matters.
Everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs & blankets to enjoy this evening of FREE family friendly fun.
