The Town of Beech Mountain, North Carolina, offers the only municipal sledding hill in the southeast. The natural snow on the Sledding Hill is enhanced with artificial snow, when needed and when weather permits.
It’s FREE to sled on the Sledding Hill.
The Sledding Hill is at 110 Bark Park Way, Beech Mountain, North Carolina. It’s about 120 miles from Charlotte, about a 2 and a half mile drive.
The hill is for kids ages 12 and under. Adults are allowed on sleds with preschoolers.
The Sledding Hill is open every day in the winter, including holidays, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call the Visitor Center to find out about snow conditions at 800-468-5506, or check out live webcams.
Sleds must be plastic. The town doesn’t supply sleds, but you can rent one from the Beech Meadows Ski Shop or White Wolf Lodge. Fred’s General Mercantile also has sleds for sale. Alternately, you can usually get one pretty quickly from Amazon.
While you’re in town to enjoy the Sledding Hill, stop by the Visitor Center across the street to get more information, and enjoy a meal at one of the town’s restaurants. Three are walking distance from the hill.
Beech Mountain Ski Resort is just 1.7 miles away from the sledding hill. Learn about Beech Mountain Ski Resort and the rest of the North Carolina ski resorts.
