
Black Charlotte: A Poetic Celebration of Place & Folk is a spoken word project honoring Charlotte’s Black history, neighborhoods, people and events.
The album features fifteen poets who wrote love letters to Charlotte. This album is an homage to historically Black neighborhoods, important Black people and important moments on Charlotte’s history.
On Friday, April 11, 2025, celebrate the album’s release at Carolina Theatre, 230 N Tryon Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, at 8 p.m.
Tickets to Black Charlotte: A Poetic Celebration of Place & Folk are $10 to $15.

This event is a joint collaboration of Charlotte SHOUT!, The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African- American Arts + Culture, and Carolina Theatre.
The lobby opens at 7 p.m. There will be a community conversation after the show.
