Monuments and Movements is an evening of stories as told by by Monroe residents who had front-row seats to the civil rights movement that played out in their beloved city.

Having lived experiences in Monroe, storytellers will share difficult yet powerful stories of the past. The retelling will teach the young and remind the old of the ongoing need for awareness and empathy to honor the legacy of black pioneers.
This is a free event on February 17th, 2023, at 7 p.m. It takes place at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 700 E Sunset Drive, Monroe, North Carolina.
