First Ward is hosting its first Block Party on Sunday, October 13th, 2019, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. It’s free to attend.
This is a great time to explore First Ward.

- King of Pops and puppies at 7th Street Public Market
- Buy one token cup and get one free at Lucky’s Bar and Arcade
- Brixx Pizza – Uptown Charlotte will have deals like “buy one adult entrée, get one kids’ meal free.”
- Charlotte Lap School classes will be popping up
Parking
Park at 7th Street Station (224 E. 7th Street, right above 7th Street Public Market) and bring your parking ticket to Levine Museum for validation. Or take the light rail to the 7th Street stop.
Charlotte’s Four Wards
Confused about the four Wards in Uptown Charlotte? The four wards are quadrants separated by Trade and Tryon Streets. If you’re standing right in the middle of the city, at Trade and Tryon, the four wards are around you.
- First Ward is bounded by North Tryon on the the northwest and East Trade on the southwest. So if you’re standing on Tryon Street, at Trade Street, looking straight up Tryon Street (toward the north), the First Ward is ahead of you on the right. It includes ImaginOn, 7th Street Public Market, First Ward Park, UNC Charlotte’s Center City Campus and Levine Museum of the New South.
- Second Ward is bounded by South Tryon on the northwest and East Trade on the northeast. So if you’re standing on Tryon Street, at Trade Street, looking straight up Tryon Street (toward the north), the Second Ward is behind you on the right. It contains NASCAR Hall of Fame, Harvey B. Gantt Center, the Charlotte Convention Center and EpiCentre.
- Third Ward is bounded by South Tryon on the southeast and West Trade on the northeast. If you’re standing on Tryon Street, at Trade Street, looking straight up Tryon Street (toward the north), the Third Ward is behind you on the left. It contains The Mint Museum Uptown, Bechtler Museum, Bank of America Stadium, BB&T Ballpark, and Romare Bearden Park.
- Fourth Ward is bounded by North Tryon on the southeast and West Trade on the southwest. If you’re standing on Tryon Street, at Trade Street, looking straight up Tryon Street (toward the north), Fourth Ward is ahead of you on the left. It contains Discovery Place Science and McColl Center for Art + Innovation.
