Concord Mills is hosting Book Blast, a fun literacy event for kids, on Saturday, March 15th, 2014, from 11am to 1pm. This event is offered through Simon Kidgits Club, which costs just $5/year to join. Once kids join they get a number of items, including a t-shirt, and can participate in events like this all year. Here’s more information, straight from Concord Mills:
Simon Malls® are welcoming families to experience the magic of reading at the mall during the 11th Annual Simon Kidgits Club® Book Blast on Saturday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Food Court at Concord Mills. This free event will allow parents and children to bring books to life through special read-aloud sessions, giveaways and story-inspired activities.
Simon Kidgits Club’s Book Blast will provide families the chance to make reading a fun, social experience with various kid-focused offerings. Book Blast event activities will kick off with an exciting read-aloud session featuring The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Very Busy Spider and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle, as well as various Curious George Adventures by Margret and H.A. Rey. Children will also illustrate a story, visit with Curious George, create their own caterpillar, design their own bookmark and dance with Mr. Nigel. Plus, attendees will receive special offers from popular children’s retailers: Gymboree Outlet, Crazy 8 and the brand new Janie & Jack Outlet.
“Because Simon Malls are destinations for families and friends to do more than just shop, Simon Kidgits Club is giving children the chance to experience all that books have to offer in a social setting,” said Jayne Stilson, assistant vice president of business development for Simon Brand Ventures, the business-to-consumer division of Simon Property Group. “We’re combining education with fun and allowing kids to simply have a blast with reading.”
Additionally, Simon is teaming up with Better World Books to provide each child that attends the event a pre-loved book and bookmark to take home. Simon and Better World Books are also supporting literacy by encouraging families to donate books to Cabarrus County daycare centers through a Drop Box book collection program during the event.
The Simon Kidgits Club is a fun and informative program that focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and entertainment for children ages 3-8.
