A selection of North Carolina’s top wineries and breweries will line Mount Airy’s Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 28, for the annual Budbreak Wine and Craft Beer Festival.
This popular boutique festival showcases 16 tasting booths and live music from an up-and-coming Nashville star, all for $20 (in advance). There will also be a barbecue food tent from local restaurant 13 Bones, as well as food offerings from restaurants along Main Street.
The lineup of wineries includes North Carolina’s largest family-owned estate winery, Shelton Vineyards, as well as Yadkin Valley’s newest winery, Golden Road Vineyards. They will be joined by Catawba Farms, Herrera Vineyards, Hidden Vineyard, Old North State Winery, Round Peak Vineyards, Sanders Ridge, Southern Charm, Stardust Cellars, Surry Cellars and Waldensian Winery.
The brewery lineup features Foothills Brewing, Fourth Creek Brewing, Midsummer Brewing and Skull Camp Brewing. Mead will also be available, courtesy of Stardust Cellars.
“This festival is in the heart of Yadkin Valley, the largest wine-producing area in North Carolina, and includes live music, great food vendors and a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains,” says festival director Bob Meinecke. “We do our best to keep the ticket price reasonable and all proceeds go to charity.”
On the entertainment side, Will Jones, who grew up just over the Virginia line in Cana, will bring his Nashville-based Will Jones Band to Mount Airy to headline the festival. Jones plays Americana and country music inspired by his bluegrass roots in the Blue Ridge foothills. Prior to Jones, a DJ will spin dance tunes.
As mentioned, advance tickets for the festival, sponsored by the Mount Airy Rotary, are $20 per person and can be purchased online. Tickets purchased at the gate are $25. Non-tasting tickets are $5.
