The U.S. National Whitewater Center’s Build Your Own Boat Festival takes place all weekend Friday, August 1st, 2014, through Sunday, August 3rd. There’s a cost for competing in the BYO Boat contest, which will pit DIY boat-builders in style and completion (that means “mostly on the boat” through various sections on the channel.) If you’d like to compete make sure to read all the rules. There’s a $35/team entry fee if you register ahead of time and it’s $40 the day of the event if there are spots left. The festival is free for spectators. There’s just a $5 parking fee. In addition, there will be live music Friday and Saturday. Registration and drop-off of boats takes place Friday. Teams will ride the boats down the rapids Saturday. The Amphibious Duathlon takes place Sunday.
