UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens, 9090 Craver Road, is holding a Carnivorous Plant Carnival for kids on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The cost is $5 per child. Free for adults.
This celebration of carnivorous plants will feature over a dozen stations of games, crafts, and educational activities, and snacks for the whole family. It’s geared toward ages 4-12
Explore these botanical wonders up-close and learn their secrets.
Included in admission:
- Ben Gregory, Entomology PhD, will be investigating and identifying the pitcher plants’ successful “catches” by dissecting pitchers with kids.
- Fly-trap feedings
- Carnivorous Plant Dissection
- Face painting
- Games
- Crafts
- Movie Showing : 1 – 2 pm Plants Behaving Badly: Murder and Mayhem (Friday Building, Room 137)
For an additional fee you can create your own Miniature Bog Garden. Registration required.
Venus flytraps and other carnivorous plants will be for available for purchase, starting at $10, so you can bring the sideshow home.
