Charlotte Curling, at 6525 Old Statesville Road, together with Sticks and Stones Curling, is hosting a Wheelchair High-Performance Camp September 12th to 15th, 2019, and as part of that there will be some free and low-cost events for the public on September 14th, 2019.
The purpose of Sticks and Stones Curling is to provide access to the sport of wheelchair curling to all types of disabilities, to support the development of wheelchair curling teams, and to provide financial support to remove barriers to participation in the sport of curling for the disabled.
Wheelchair Learn-to-Curl with the U.S. National Team
1 p.m. to 3 .m.
Free
For wheelchair curlers only. Participants will learn the basics of curling including rock delivery, scoring and basic strategy.
3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Free viewing for all in the warm room.
The general public is invited to watch the U.S. National Wheelchair Team play the local Sticks and Stones wheelchair team.
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Free for wheelchair participants
$10 for everyone else
Free admission for everyone to visit the facility. Opportunities available for children and adults, limited-mobility and able-bodied to throw stones and experience curling first hand. Throw-A-Rock opportunities are free for wheelchair curlers and $10 for everyone else.
