Charlotte Folk Society, an organization devoted to preserving and sharing traditional music of our region, is holding its annual Holiday Potluck and Jams on Saturday, December 3rd, and everyone is invited. It’s free to attend. It takes place in Langford Hall, Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605 East Boulevard, at 4 p.m.
If you play an acoustic instrument, bring it along to join in.
All you need to bring is a veggie dish or dessert to share. The Folk Society is providing meats and beverages. If you’d prefer, you can bring $5 to donate toward expenses. (Or just stop on the way and spend that $5 at the grocery store on something to share; it doesn’t have to be home-made.)
At 4 p.m., participate in a song circle or acoustic jam session. The potluck dinner beings at 5 p.m. After dinner there will be a short sing-a-long of holiday selections and then the song circles and jamming will resume. There will be designated spaces in the building for a song circle, a Celtic session, a bluegrass jam, an old-time jam, and a youth jam.
There is limited parking behind the church. Once that lot is full, please park on the streets around the church. Those needing accessible entry should look for a sign by the ground floor door closest to the parking lot entrance. This door leads directly to an elevator to the second floor.
