Charlotte Folk Society invites the public to its 8th Annual Old-Time Music Jam and Ice Cream Social at Charlotte Museum of History, 3500 Shamrock Drive, on the grounds of the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite. The event takes place Saturday, September 6th, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If it rains the event will move inside to the museum. The free event includes old-time, Celtic and bluegrass music, stories and free ice cream (while it lasts.) Bring a chair or a blanket. If you play an instrument, bring that too, but listeners are very much welcome as well.
Charlotte Museum of History is celebrating Backcountry Days as well on September 6th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a free community-wide celebration of the Piedmont Backcountry featuring demonstrations of crafts such as pottery, blacksmithing, basket weaving, rifle and cartridge making, along with children’s crafts and colonial games. There will be free tours of Hezekiah Alexander Home Site and Museum.
