The Charlotte area is ready for fall and Halloween! Here’s a list of corn mazes, pumpkin patches, hayrides and more fall farm activities and more, for the 2024 season.
Some of these are a little bit of a drive, and are in areas that we don’t typically include in Charlotte on the Cheap, but are worth checking out.

These attractions are suitable for children, and are not intended to be scary (unless otherwise indicated.) There are a couple attractions that feature both scary and non-scary activities.
Almond Farm

Wagon ride takes you on a tour of the farm. Three corn mazes, animals, tire pyramid, more. Every Saturday and Sunday in October the excavator will dump candy at 3 p.m. Pumpkin is not included in price.

Admission is free, and on Saturdays and Sundays there’s a $5 parking fee.
Visit the pumpkin patch, enjoy photo ops, barnyard animals, a hay mountain and picnic areas. On weekends there will be a hayride, at an extra charge.

$7.50 for wagon ride — includes a medium sized pumpkin.
This 4th generation family farm grows over 100 different types of pumpkins, including heirloom varieties. Tractor-pulled wagon rides include a pumpkin from the patch. There are also playgrounds, tire mountains, a wooden maze, educational exhibits and a corn crib. In addition they sell mountain apples and a large variety of homegrown cooking pumpkins and fall squash.

Riverbend grows several varieties of pumpkins and gourds. There are 4 large wagons that go to and from the fields on the weekends, so you can stay as long as you want. The farm also has a large farm-themed playground and more.

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., bring young children to the “Not So Spooky” trail. During this time there will also be activities like a bounce house, crafts and trick-or-treating (no charge for these activities.) Starting at 7:30 p.m., the trail will be a “Full Fright” Trail.

Sunny Oaks is a small, family-owned farm that grows pumpkins, gourds and flowers. Besides shopping for farm products, and picking a pumpkin, families enjoy the petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, straw mountain, and many other activities.

Pumpkin picking begins September 23, 2024, and will take place 7 days a week.
Pumpkin picking is $15 per person. ($5 deposit and $10 at the door.) The payment at the door is cash only.
Sunflower picking also starts sometime in September.
Carrigan Farms will offer two fall attractions. Sunflower picking and DIY sunflower field photo shoots in September and October. Reservations are required. Price varies by activity. And Pumpkin picking will take place all October, weather permitting. Take a hayride to the pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkin. There will also be a market with other fall pumpkin and gourd options. Reservations required.
