Charlotte Idol is a singing contest that will take place at OpenTap, 5010 Carmel Center Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina. It will start in February, 2024, and will take place on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Each week audiences will vote on their favorite local singer and say goodbye to a contestant, until there’s just one standing.
Contestants must be 21 and not a professional performer. It’s free to enter.

The rules:
- Only individual contestants are eligible, no multiple singers or additional instruments may be used.
- Contestants must be 21 years of age.
- Each contestant will need to prepare four songs (5 minutes/song maximum).
- Each contestant is free to select his/her songs from any genre. Assortment of styles is highly recommended.
- Each contestant will need to start by introducing himself/herself, and the title of the song he/she will be singing.
- Contestants must sing to prerecorded music (backing track); no live musical instruments will be allowed.
- The songs and lyrics must be memorized; no video screens will be used.
