Charlotte Observer and Red Ventures are hosting a forum on HB2. The Truth on HB2: What’s fact, what’s fiction? will take place on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will be held at McGlohon Theater, at Spirit Square, 345 North College Street. It’s free to attend, but please register at the above link.
House Bill 2 has become so politically divisive, it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s false anymore. In this forum presented by The Charlotte Observer and sponsored by Red Ventures, a panel of experts will lay out the facts. We’ll break down how the law came into being; what the law actually calls for; the political, social and economic fallout; what solutions are surfacing and how the election could affect the bill’s future.
Our panel includes: 24-year-old Fletcher Page, a transgender man from Piedmont, S.C.; Richard Vinroot, a former Republican Charlotte mayor; Chris Sgro, executive director of Equality NC; David Chadwick, senior pastor at Forest Hill Church; Mitch Kokai, senior political analyst for the John Locke Foundation, and Jim Morrill, political reporter for the Charlotte Observer.
WBTV’s Molly Grantham will moderate and Charlotte School of Law professor Scott Sigman and Charlotte City Attorney Bob Hagemann will be on hand to answer legal questions. Woven throughout the evening will be the results of a statewide Observer poll gauging where the public stands on HB2.
