Charlotte Roller Derby’s Season Opener takes place Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Grady Cole Center. 310 N Kings Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Snow Moon Showdown will be a triple header, with fun from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
- 1 PM: Doors Open
- 2 PM: Royal Rumble: Purple vs White
- 4:15 PM: CLTRD Bad Assets vs FRD Rogue All Stars
- 6:25 PM: Team North Carolina vs Team Kentucky
Besides the bouts, there is a lot more entertainment:
- Contests and raffles
- Skater races and activities for kids
- New Charlotte Roller Derby merch
- Halftime fun and games for the whole family
- Bake sale
- Concessions

- Adults: $17
- Kids (6-12): $11
- Kids (0-5): Free
- Day of: $20
Established in 2006, Charlotte Roller Derby is a skater-owned and operated non-profit sports organization comprised of women and men from all walks of life. Formed to promote the sport of roller derby and enrich the Charlotte community, the league and its members donate time and a portion of bout proceeds to local charitable causes.
Roller Derby 101
- Roller derby is a contact sport, with five skaters from each team on the track at a time.
- A bout consists of a series of “jams,” where one skater on each team, the “jammer” (identified with a star on the helmet) scores points by lapping members of the opposing team.
- The other team members, the “blockers,” try to prevent the opposing team’s jammer from passing them, while helping their own jammer.
