The City of Kannapolis is celebrating National Random Act of Kindness Day on Wednesday, February 17th, 2021, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Here’s the message from the City of Kannapolis:
Join us as we celebrate “National Random Act of Kindness Day” on February 17. We invite you to come and meet our two new Chiefs – Fire Chief Tracy Winecoff and Police Chief Terry Spry. They will be handing out cups of hot chocolate, face masks, and other goodies in front of Kannapolis City Hall.
Drive by between 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. and introduce yourself. They would love to meet you. (COVID restrictions will be in place. Please wear a mask and remain in your vehicle).
Both Winecoff and Spry assumed their new roles last year but because of COVID restrictions they have not been able to host or attend events to introduce themselves to the community.
“We miss being able to go into the community and talk to residents. It is very important for both of us to be available to answer questions or address any concerns anyone has. Building relationships and collaborating is always better when we can meet with people in person,” said Police Chief Spry.
“Having personal interaction with everyone in our community is one of things I enjoy most about my job. While we are answering 911 calls every day helping people, we do miss the safety programs and events we are usually doing at schools, churches, businesses, and neighborhoods,” commented Fire Chief Winecoff.
Both Spry and Winecoff have spent their careers in Kannapolis and have established connections with many people in the City but they look forward expanding those relationships while serving in their new roles. “As leaders of our departments we are working together, now more than ever, to keep people safe and training our staff for the growth our City is experiencing,” Spry further commented. “We look forward to meeting our new residents and collaborating with everyone as our City’s revitalization evolves. Even though the event on the 17th is a drive thru we will be glad to see people face to face again,” Winecoff said.
