McColl Center for Art + Innovation invites college students and faculty to a free night on Thursday, September 28th, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. College ID will be required.
College Night at McColl Center will feature:

- Hip-Hop dance lesson with Dina Badawy
- Paper flower making class with artist-in-residence Julio Gonzalez
- Food surprise by artist-in-residence Leah Rosenberg
- Hands-on art workshop by UNCC art students
- Refreshments

- Edible sculpture display by Culinary Arts students at CPCC

Live band: Blame the Youth
Blame the Youth is based here in Charlotte and explore ways to intrigue your ears and make you crave more. Their eclectic mix of alternative and soulful sounds, with a little rock and jazz, inspired by Erykah Badu, Haitus Kaiyote, The Contortionist, Animals as Leaders, James Blake, and a host of other artists.
Beginner’s Hip-Hop
Charlotte-based choreographer Dina Badawy leads a 60-minute, beginner level hip-hop class for college students. Sweat and smile with Dina as she breaks down core moves and teaches a routine on the front lawn (weather permitting). Comfortable clothing recommended.
Food Surprise!
Artist-in-residence Leah Rosenberg will provide an edible surprise inspired by the colors of Charlotte as part of her site-responsive project in the first-floor gallery, Color for the People.
Day of the Almost Dead Flower-making
Learn about the Day of the Dead while using paper to recreate African marigolds, called cempasuchi in Mexico. These flowers are used to decorate homes, altars, and cemetery entrances on this special day. Participants may keep their creations or attach them to a wire mesh that will form the archway to Julio Gonzalez’s exhibition at C3 Lab from October 31 through November 4, 2017.
