Every Sunday admission is free to the Levine Museum of the New South (to groups of fewer than 10 people.) On Sunday, May 17th, 2015, there’s also a special event from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Destination Freedom Community Day.
Join us for a free Community Day to celebrate the final weeks of our 2-year series Destination Freedom: Civil Rights Struggles Then and Now. Learn about and commemorate the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement in Charlotte and the U.S., and explore the activism that continues today.
Held on the 61st anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education school desegregation decision, the Destination Freedom Community Day will feature a screening of the documentary film Selma: The Bridge to the Ballot, a guided tour of the SCLC: And the Struggle Continues exhibit, crafts, family activities, performances and tours of the other Museum exhibits.
