Back to Independence Rehab is a Neuro fitness facility that focuses on reconnecting to the impaired body areas affected by injury and disease by utilizing evidence-based research, to help those with a neurological condition improve in their everyday life.
Their program will help stimulate new neurological connections, enhance recovery, improve overall health and wellness. Back to Independence Rehab strives to build a welcoming environment and empowering atmosphere to help those with neurological impairments push through their limitations and rise above paralysis.
Back to Independence Rehab is hosting a Community Disability Fitness Festival and Open House Saturday, May 15th, 2021, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The event will offer the community an opportunity to exercise outside socially distanced, socialize with each other for peer mentoring, and to learn more about adapted and disability resources locally.
Persons with paralysis due to Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Injury, Stroke, MS, ALS, Guillain–Barré and other Neurological disorders, along with their family or caregivers, will best be served at this event.
Registration is required for the exercise classes.
- 1:00 Sit Fit: A group fitness class that will strengthen your upper body while incorporating core and cardio.
- 1:45 Zumba with Monique Stamps. Class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance!
- 2:30 Seated Yoga with Dr. Jackie LaBarbera DPT, Clinical SCI Specialist Group seated yoga will focus on flexibility, breath work, and mind body connection. Caregiver and family members welcome to participate: please RSVP for a chair or yoga mat space.
