I’m happy to be able to offer this prize to a Charlotte on the Cheap reader. Win two tickets to see local band Time Sawyer perform at The Evening Muse, 3227 N. Davidson Street (corner of N. Davidson & 36th) on Sunday, January 15th, 2012, at 7pm. The winner will also receive a copy of their new CD, Maroon.

I first heard of Time Sawyer when they were booked to perform at Dilworth Coffee in Concord. I checked out their last CD, “Time for a Change,” a few days prior to the show and was hooked. After the performance, I approached them about doing a giveaway on Charlotte on the Cheap and they agreed. This acoustic group writes and plays music that can be described as Americana or folk, but it’s one of those bands that’s hard to pin into a genre. Their music features great melodies, lyrics that stick in your head, and most of all a kind of “realness.” If you like The Avett Brothers you probably know what I mean by “realness.” Time Sawyer considers The Avett Brothers an influence and they played a couple of nice Avett covers at Dilworth Coffee last month.

They’re playing in a lot of venues around the area and placed high in WNCW’s list of Top 20 Regional Albums of 2011.

I hope I convinced you to give them a listen! The show is at The Evening Muse (as part of The Afton Showcase) on Sunday, January 15th, starting around 7pm. If you win there will be two tickets and a CD waiting for you at the door. If you like what you see and hear in the video I’m embedding in this post, please come out and see them.     Deperately need a night out! Hubby and I both have been ill thru New Year’s eve. He gave it to me! You would think that I would not want to treat him to a night out, but I love him. Pretty please, tickets please!
