CREATE Ballantyne - larger than life art installations coming to Ballantyne's Backyard

CREATE Ballantyne is an extensive art program coming to Ballantyne’s Backyard, 11611 N Community House Road, Charlotte. Northwood Office has partnered with Blumenthal Performing Arts, ArtPop Street Gallery, Charlotte is Creative and The Savage Way to bring two larger-than life sculptures to the community.

The two sculptures, The Man from Parer Studio, and Luminarium from Architects of Air, will be on display from September 16th to October 2nd, 2022. The viewing experience will be enhanced with local food trucks, breweries, live music, yoga classes, and more, to be announced.

Luminarium by Architects of Air

Architects of Air’s monumental Luminarium, a walk-through inflatable sculpture, is immersed in radiant color from daylight shining through the fabric. The structure, designed by company founder Alan Parkinson, is inspired by natural forms, geometric solids and Islamic and Gothic architecture.

The Man

“Man,” a contemporized version of Auguste Rodin’s “Thinker,” is a giant 40-foot seated figure in which the viewer can see the results of man’s self-indulgence and self-importance. “Man” holds his head in search of answers and perhaps what went wrong.
