Arts and Science Council, through a partnership with Mecklenburg County’s Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Services, is offering a number of Culture Blocks programs for Mecklenburg County residents with disabilities.
All of these programs are FREE for participants, because of the financial support of Mecklenburg County. Please read on for a description and registration link for each program.
Some of these programs have already started, but registration is still open, at the time of this posting. All programs have limited space.
Dance Fusion
Tuesdays from February 22nd to May 3rd, 2022

Watch Me Dance

This interactive dance series promotes social connectivity and health through movement. Watch Me Dance highlights the American social dance styles birthed in African-American communities, including Chicago Stepping, Detroit Ballroom and Soul Line Dancing.
Community Through Clay

Join TR & clay artist Danielle Carelock for a 12-week ceramic workshop series. Participants will be able to make 9-18 projects using a variety of professional techniques, as well as learn the glazing process for their own masterpieces.

Are you ready for a hands-on, exciting musical experience?! Learn how to express yourself through beats, rhythms and movements while drumming on traditional African percussion instruments. Drumming can help improve your mood, energy level and coordination. All skill levels are welcomed.
All the World’s a Stage (Drama Program)

Using Shakespeare’s works and studies, “All the World’s a Stage” participants will experience elements of theatrical art along with awareness of relevant issues. Participants will explore the history of theater, character study along with physical harmony and develop vignettes all centered on Shakespearean themes.
