Visit Charlotte’s newest park, First Ward Park, for its official dedication on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015. It’s located between 7th Street, 9th Street, and Brevard Street, just east of the light rail that serves 7th Street Station and ImaginOn. It’s at the site of an old surface parking lot. The four-acre park features water jets, a children’s play area, color-changing LED lights, a fountain, and, very important about seven months, shade.
The dedication will take place Tuesday, December 8th, 2015. From 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. there will be activities, hot chocolate, music, park tours, and refreshments provided by UNC Charlotte Center City. Starting at 4:30 p.m. sample food and drink from the businesses across the street at 7th Street Public Market, including Carolina Chocolate Company, Orman’s Cheese Shop, Assorted Table Wine Shop, Viva Raw and Not Just Coffee.
At 5:30 p.m. the park’s holiday light display will be switched on.
