Discovery Place Science’s The Science of Ripley’s Believe it or Not exhibit, which runs through September 4th, 2017, is bringing with it a couple of unusual promotions.
But first, about the exhibit, from Discovery Place’s website:
Crawl through a life-size model of the prehistoric snake, Titanoboa, and revel at its incredible size. Measure up against Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest man, who grew to 8 feet 11 inches (2.72 m) tall. Marvel at intricate micro-sculptures so small, they fit in the eye of a needle.
See a calf with two faces, a megalodon shark jaw, a Rolls Royce made of matchsticks and a portrait of Einstein made of toast.
Experience some of the world’s most perplexing optical illusions, investigate incredible examples of body modification and celebrate the life and legacy of Robert Ripley, the explorer and adventurer.
Here are the two promotions:
Free admission after 100 degree days
Discovery Place Science is teaming up with WCNC-NBC Charlotte to reward you for making it through the hottest weather. When a day reaches 100 degrees, as verified by the WCNC Weather Team, the next day the first 100 visitors to Discovery Place Science will receive free admission. This promotion will continue through the run of the exhibit.
Follow Brad Panovich, Larry Sprinkle, John Wendel and Sarah Fortner on Twitter to learn if the temperatures of 100 degrees have been verified.
Free lifetime admission for the tallest man and woman
The world’s tallest man was Robert Wadlow, who was 8 feet 11 inches. At the Ripley’s exhibit, measure yourself against his height. The tallest three men and women will be invited back to Discovery Place Science on September 2nd for official measuring.
The tallest man and woman will receive a lifetime membership to Discovery Place Science. Winners must be residents of North or South Carolina.
