Shredding your sensitive documents is an important step to protect yourself from identify theft and fraud. It’s especially important to shred document that you have your social security number, credit card info or bank account information on them.
We maintain a list of free shredding events around Charlotte. The free shredding events tend to take place in April or May, and in November, but they can happen any time. Mecklenburg County Solid Waste hosts free shredding events throughout the year.
Adding to the list…Office Max and Office Depot are offering 5 pounds of paper shredding for free. Just pay tax. You’ll need a coupon, which you can find by scrolling all the way down on this page.
Their free shredding promotion goes on through April 27, 2024.
