Friday, November 17th, and Saturday, November 18th, 2017, Five Points Plaza, where West Trade, State Street, 5th Street, Rozzelles Ferry Road and Beatties Ford Road intersect, will be transformed. It’s part of the Better Block Project, which challenges neighbors to re-imagine what their neighborhoods can be like. Then they work with urban designers, over the course of several days, to make the temporary changes.
This temporary transformation will ultimately shape the final design for the City’s Capital Improvement Project for that intersection.
Improvements currently being discussed by the city, based on West Side community feedback from a Spring 2017 community meeting, include a new art and entertainment plaza, pedestrian lighting, wide sidewalks, crosswalks, landscaping and public art.
On Friday, November 17th, come by to help build and enjoy the space, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday, November 18th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., come by and enjoy the space. There will be food, shopping and entertainment on Saturday.
Some of what will be going on Saturday:
- Open Mic (singers, rappers, poets, dancers, storytellers, and models) Register now to perform.
