The Forty-Niner Forum Speakers Series supplies the community with dynamic, diverse, and engaging speakers.
The next event features Jemele Hill, a celebrated, American Sports Journalist. She will be speaking, with a meet and greet following the talk.
The event is free and open to the public, and takes place Tuesday, October 30th, 2018, at 7 p.m., at Popp Martin Student Union, at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, 9201 University City Boulevard.
Born in Detroit, MI, Hill attended Michigan State University. She began her career as a sports writer for the Raleigh News & Observer.
She later joined the Detroit Free Press, primarily covering Michigan State football and basketball. While there, she also covered the 2004 Summer Olympics and NBA Playoffs.
In 2011, Hill & Michael Smith began the popular podcast His & Hers, which led to ESPN adding Hill to the ESPN2 show Numbers Never Life, which was renamed and rebranded His & Hers.
In 2017, Hill became an evening anchor of ESPN’s flagship show, SportsCenter. She recently parted ways with ESPN to report for The Atlantic, where she will share her perspective on how politics, race, gender, and culture align.
Join the Forty-Niner Forum as we present “An Evening with Jemele Hill,” where Hill will share personal stories of professional experiences as a woman of color in a male-dominated career field.
