Kinetic Works, a dance education organization, is presenting a free family-friendly event on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014, at Dale F. Halton Theater, in CPCC’s Overcash Building, at 1206 Elizabeth Avenue. “The Seasons” is a ballet and audiovisual performance featuring a cast of professional ballet and youth dancers. It will evoke weather and nature on a journey through frost, snow and hail, zany flower gardens, shimmering rain and sun, galloping winds, brilliantly hued leaves, dancing trees and a butterfly pas de deux. The performance includes foam constructions and puppetry by Drew Allison’s Grey Seal Puppets, videographic effects by Joel Blackwelder and original costume designs by Kriss Yavelak. The performance is set to Alexander Glazunov’s ballet score, The Seasons. Fittingly, presiding as a special guest is Larry Sprinkle, NBC Charlotte Weatherman. Although this is a free event, reservations are required. RSVP by clicking on this link. Donations will be accepted during the performance.
There’s more to the event than the ballet. Here’s the schedule:
6:00pm: Doors open. In the lobby there will be a presentation by EcoFab Trash Couture, with fashion designs made from trash and recycled materials
6:30pm: Pre-show performance featuring Drew Allison/Gray Seal Puppets and Aris Quiroga, classical guitarist
7:00pm: The Seasons
8:00pm: Reception with performers
