Here’s a new, FREE, way to get around South End. Free Cart Ride has just started offering free rides on eco-friendly electric shuttles.
Just wave them down when you see them. They’re adding the capability for customers to schedule a ride from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Text them at 704-238-3111. If that’s not working yet, it will be very soon.
Free Cart Ride is supported by advertisers. Riders can tip using Venmo and Zelle.
Free Cart Ride is circulating during these hours:
- Tuesday to Saturday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Tuesday to Thursday: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
They will be publishing their route soon. Look for it on Facebook and Instagram, but basically they run from Mint Street to Remount, in between South Tryon Street and South Blvd. Just wave them down when you see them.
They’ve got one cart out there now, and it takes 10-12 minutes to make a loop. They’ll be putting a second car into service by the end of this week, and then you should see them every 7 minutes or so.
