There will be a free family-friendly Community Create and Play Day at the site of the future Wilmore Centennial Park, South Tryon Street and West Kingston Avenue, on Saturday, September 30th, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a lot of fun, free activities:
Pop-Up Adventure Play Space. Charlotte CREATIVE re:use is excited to provide an opportunity for children and their families to explore, create and play together with their re-purposed materials collection. Children will be free to design their own play adventure using cardboard boxes, tubes, fabric, tires and tape.
South End Textile Renaissance. Little Lotte Studio is bringing their pop up tie dye studio and tribute to South End’s roots in the textile industry. Participants will walk away with their own tie dyed keepsake!
Create a Bubble World. Bubble World is spreading happiness one bubble at a time! In addition to plenty of free bubbles on hand to pass out, children will learn how to use dye and bubbles to create lasting, wearable art. We will have white t-shirts in various sizes (while supplies last), or bring your own to ensure the correct fit.
Amplify Your Voice. Pachyderm Music Lab is rocking out with BabyPUNK! and songwriting workshops. Kids of all ages can play the guitar or ukele, while older children and adults can learn how to write songs together. In between lessons, musicians with Girls Rock Charlotte will perform.
Snacks will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage families to bring additional snacks and picnic blankets!
This event is being made possible by a South End Creative Lab Microgrant.
Rain Date: Sunday, October 1
