Sphinx Virtuosi, one of the nation’s most dynamic professional chamber orchestras, will perform in two free concerts in October, hosted by Community School of the Arts. Comprised of 18 of the nation’s top African-American and Latino classical soloists, these alumni of the internationally renowned Sphinx competition come together each fall as cultural ambassadors to reach new audiences. Inspired by Sphinx’s overarching mission, the Sphinx Virtuosi works to advance diversity in classical music while engaging young and new audiences through performances of varied repertoire.
During its time in Charlotte, the Sphinx Virtuosi will visit approximately 15 schools to provide a number of experiences for students, including schoolwide performances, smaller performances for arts departments, orchestra classes, and master classes for orchestra students.
