Discovery Place Kids, 105 Gilead Road in Huntersville, is holding its annual Countdown to Kindergarten on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rising kindergarteners and their families are invited to this free event, which includes museum admission.
This annual event focuses on kindergarten readiness and celebrates a child’s entrance into formal education.

Enjoy FREE Museum admission as community partners inside and outside the museum offer skill-building activities and information that children and parents will need in preparation for their first day of school, including:
- Practice bus safety with Gus the Bus
- Learn how to carry a lunch tray, open milk and juice boxes
- Enjoy Storytime with the Public Library as we rehearse lining up in a line
- Make memories with a pop-up photoshoot with graduation gear for kids to wear
- Get a free dental screening, plus practice scissors safety and tying your shoes
- Explore, test and try new skills throughout the Museum!
Local kindergarten teachers will be on hand for kids to meet as well.
Free parking is available in the Huntersville Town Center parking deck located behind the Museum. You can access the Parking Deck from Old Statesville Road or Gilead Road.
