About the book: Author Charles Frazier releases his much anticipated fourth novel, VARINA (April 3, 2018; ISBN: 9780062405982; $27.99), a powerful work of historical fiction that returns to the time and place of his National Book Award-winning Cold Mountain. Like that beloved Civil War novel, which The New York Times Book Review called, “A Whitmanesque foray into America: into its hugeness, its freshness, its scope and its soul,” VARINA revisits the perennially absorbing period in our country’s history when political and social divisiveness led to a catastrophic war. At the novel’s center is Varina Howell Davis, a fascinating, if little-known woman who ended up on the wrong side of history.
About the author: Charles Frazier is the author of Cold Mountain, an international bestseller that won the National Book Award and was adapted into an Academy-Award winning film by Anthony Minghella. He is also the author of the bestselling novels Thirteen Moons and Nightwoods.
