Cabarrus County’s parks department, Cabarrus Active Living and Parks, offers many events and activities throughout the year and quite a few are free to attend. Frog Night
Develop an ear for frogs during this frogs program where we will learn frog calls and how to eyeshine them. After training you could help with our citizen science FrogWatch national program.

Get Outside and discover what Cabarrus County Parks has to offer. Programs such as slacklines, Spikeball, Kayaking, Mini Golf, Paddleboats, Creek Stomp, Animal Encounters and even a bird release from Carolina Raptor Center. Donations for our 501(c)3 Partners for Parks fund will be accepted.

Countywide BioBlitz
Visit any of our Cabarrus County operated parks and help staff discover the wild residents for our annual species survey as part of our conservation plan. Guides will be on hand for help to identify pictures taken.

Wild Wonders: FBI
Unearth the wonders of Fungus, Bacteria and Insects lead by a park ranger to lead you into the world of pillbugs, lichen, moss, mushrooms, worms, beetles and others you might stumble upon.

Moth Nights
Explore the world of the nocturnal flyers at any of our parks using our special “Larry’s Lighthouse” light system. Participants will also learn how to use other less expensive techniques such as sugaring.

Firefly Storywalk
Go on a walk reading The Little Squeegy Bug and uncover the story of how fireflies came to be. We will end the walk catching fireflies, a short discussion on how to identify them and tell you how to get involved in Firefly Watch.

Butterfly Walks
