Cabarrus Arts Council’s Family Days feature fun and creative activities for children in The Galleries and Davis Theatre, and opportunities for anyone to visit The Galleries on the weekend. Each Family Day is different and may include creative projects, a performance or movie in Davis Theatre, 65 Union Street South, in Concord, and even activities on the front lawn.
The next Family Day is on Saturday, October 15th, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by Vulcan Materials Company and will feature:
- Small excavator onsite for kids/adults to scoop up objects (wooden fish) in the parking lot.
- Creation Station #1: Build a City. Kids can use different shapes and colors to make roads, parks, buildings and houses. Materials: construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, large pieces of paper.
- Creation Station #2: Build it Challenge. Build a structure that can support the most possible weight; build the tallest structure; build the tallest structure with the fewest clothespins; build with triangles; build a domino chain. Materials: Craft sticks, clothespins, binder clips.
- Creation Station #3: Building Roads and Runways. Play with toy cars and planes on the roads/runways you build with Vulcan gravel and paper roads.
- Creation Station #4: Make and Wear Your Own Tool Belt. Materials: Tool belt template, scissors, glue, crayons, string.
