Dancing with the Camera is a day-long, crash course workshop introduction to artistic and promotional filmmaking. We’ll start with the visual basics, delve into camera work, video production, and basic storytelling through the editing process.
This workshop is designed for beginning filmmakers who want to create artistic films, or if you want to make photo and video content for marketing, or if you just want to know more about visual language and communication. The class will be taught through lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and group collaboration/creation.
Goodyear Arts has opened their doors for this workshop and we’ll be utilizing their gallery space.
Here’s the schedule for the day:
9-9:30am – Introduction to visual communication.
9:30-11:00am – Lecture on Visual Structure
11:00-11:30am – Equipment demonstration and lecture
11:30-12:30pm – Lighting, depth of field and camera movement
12:30-1:30pm – Lunch
1:30-3:00pm – Group work in uptown Charlotte
3:30-4:30pm – Editing lecture – montage theory, programs to use, etc.
4:30-5:30pm – Basics of social media marketing
5:30-6:00pm – Group discussion and Q&A
