Discover the surprising history of neighborhood evolution in the Queen City — from the rise of racial and economic segregation in the years around 1900 to the “salad bowl suburbs” seen in areas such as South Boulevard and Central Avenue today. Dr. Tom Hanchett, consulting historian with Levine Museum, talks about his book, Sorting Out the New South City: Race, Class & Urban Development in Charlotte, published by UNC Press.
