Stop by any participating Krispy Kreme location on April 1st, 2016, and get a free Original Glazed doughnut. This sounds a lot like an especially cruel April Fools’ trick, but Krispy Kreme is saying it’s true. And finally they have explained exactly how how the doughnuts are created.
Every day, guests around the world come to Krispy Kreme to enjoy the fresh, sweet-tasting doughnuts we’ve cultivated expressly for their delight.
Cultivated, we say, because each year the Doughnut Harvest yields hundreds of thousands of bushels of doughnettes—each one carefully nurtured from a doughnut seedling, then individually selected by our master doughnut growers at the peak of freshness—which are then brought into our shops for final glazing or hand-decorating.
This year, on account of the unusually fair winter, the Doughnut Harvest was especially bountiful. Now, for the first time, the surplus is so great we are inviting guests everywhere to join us in celebration.
The Doughnut Harvest Celebration takes place this Friday (4/1) at participating Krispy Kreme locations.
Come enjoy a free Original Glazed doughnut. Learn about the doughnut growing process. And experience first-hand the harvest tradition which, until this year, was a celebration reserved only for growers and their families.
OK, that part might be a joke by Krispy Kreme, but the free doughnut is not a joke. Here’s the press release.
