Gaston County Museum, at 131 West Main Street, Dallas, is presenting a free lecture “Legacy of Ella May Wiggins” by Kristina Horton, author of “Martyr of Loray Mill,” on Saturday, September 26th, 2015, at 1 p.m.

In 1929, Gaston County struggled through one of the most infamous labor strikes in United States history. At the center of it all was Ella May Wiggins. Author Kristina Horton has just published her research on Ella May Wiggins in her new book Martyr of Loray Mill. This topic is very important to Kristina for not only its historical significance, but for also the fact that Ella May Wiggins was her great– grandmother. Be sure to join us for this intriguing lecture in the Historic Dallas Courthouse. This event is part of the Our Legacy Series provided by the Gaston County Museum, examining the special history that made a unique people.
In conjunction with the program, artist Tammy Cantrell will give a short talk on her photography series depicting old textile mills with historic images superimposed, including one photograph of Kristina with her great grandmother. Tammy’s work is currently on display in the Museum.
