Baran Dance is bringing a new monthly event to Petra’s, at 1919 Commonwealth Avenue. Screendance Social will be a chance to watch a dance-themed film, followed by a discussion of the film. There’s no cover, but donations are welcome. The next Screendance Social, featuring the film “Pina,” will take place Sunday, March 5th (doors at 7 p.m., film at 8 p.m.) and then it will be first Sunday of the month after that (unless otherwise indicated.)

Let’s get together, have a drink, watch a dance film, and talk about it! At Screendance Social, we show a different dance film and raise money for a great cause each month. March’s film is “Pina“!
PINA is a dance film with the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, featuring the unique and inspiring art of the great German choreographer, who died in the summer of 2009.
Director Wim Wenders takes the audience on a sensual, visually stunning journey of discovery into a new dimension: straight onto the stage with the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch ensemble, he follows the dancers out of the theatre into the city and the surrounding areas of Wuppertal – the place, which for 35 years was the home and centre for Pina Bausch’s creativity.
Doors: 7pm // Film: 8pm // Cover: FREE – but donations collected at the door for the ACLU of North Carolina
