UNCC’s College of Arts + Architecture, with help from a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, is getting ready to bring arts to the neighborhoods of Charlotte. Their new pop-up mobile space will be used to connect Charlotte residents and showcase the ideas of diverse neighborhoods.
First on the agenda: FREE pop-up public arts celebration on Levine Avenue for the Arts Friday, April 10th, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and then A MAX Family Day on Saturday, April 11th, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Friday’s event includes live music and performances by cirque artists, parkour tumblers, musicians, and students from the UNC Charlotte Department of Theatre.
On Saturday, the theatre department will present a performance of “The Life of That Little Scoundrel Named Lazarillo.” Based on a Spanish Renaissance novella, this contemporary commedia chronicles the life of a young rogue named Lazaro, who survives by means of clever tricks, deceiving his many masters along the way. Music by the UNC Charlotte Student Jazz Combo will follow.
