State of Black America is a free program taking place at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church
3400 Beatties Ford Road, on Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can sign up for one or more program throughout the day.
The State of Black America debuts each year in Washington DC with great interests from the policy community, educators, and the public. This year will be the first year the State of Black America will be relaunched in other markets at the request of the Urban League of Central Carolinas. Several partners will lead solution oriented discussions from North and South Carolina that lead to greater social mobility for all.
The schedule:
8 a.m. to 10 a.m.: The State of Black America Overview
10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Panel 1: The State of Economic Mobility and Health
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.: Lunch and the State of Ethnic Charlotte
1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Panel 2: The State of Education and Youth
2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Panel 3: The State of Justice and Civic Engagement
