Music Therapy and Memory: Reaching Past and Present Through Song
In this free presentation especially for Family caregivers, learn about music therapy and its benefits for enhancing short-term and long-term memory and improving quality of life.
Music therapist Danielle Glefke will show how music can help people with early-stage dementia feel more relaxed and able to cope with their surroundings. As stages of memory loss progress, music can provide a familiar structure for accessing memories and abilities that are not yet lost. It can also help maintain access to those memories and abilities for as long as possible.
You’ll leave with a better understanding of what happens during music therapy, as well as techniques to use at home with your loved one.
