The Bechtler Ensemble will perform in a free concert at E.H. Little Fine Arts Center, Dana Auditorium, Queens University of Charlotte, 1900 Selwyn Avenue, on Sunday, September 13th, 2015, at 7 p.m.
Cellist Tanja Bechtler is founder and director of the Bechtler Ensemble Music Series, which offers performances that connect the historical and creative contents of music pieces to selected works of modern art from the Bechtler Museum. Bechtler has been an orchestral player with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and has performed professionally at Lincoln Center and the Spoleto Festival. Her CDs include “Shadegrown,” featuring her guitarist husband Bob Teixeira, who teaches at Queens.
The Ensemble’s multi-media performance at Queens will feature Peter DeVries, violinist; Tanja Bechtler, cellist; and Paul Nitsch, pianist. Bechtler will bring slides of artwork from the Bechtler Museum and from her family’s collection, which will be projected throughout the performance. Before each musical piece, Bechtler will describe how the artwork correlates to the music.
