Ganttfest provides a full day of art and culture for the whole family on Saturday, July 26th, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It’s free to members of Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, as well as to veterans. For everyone else it’s only $5. The Gantt Center is at 551 South Tryon Street. Check out the complete schedule. It includes hands-on workshops for kids, library activities, Story Squad performances, caricatures, With These Handz DJ Showcase, a screening of the movie “Akeelah and the Bee,” face-painting, the band Funk Rush, cooking demonstrations, the band Mother Blues, a screening of the movie “Claudine” and a performance by the band “A Sign of the Times.”
